Despite a huge amount of rainfall over the show weekend, the artist areas at the 2016 Download Festival were kept easily accessible thanks to the temporary pedestrian access paths installed by EFS Europe.

The company installed over 1,100m2 of its specialist Temp-A-Path product to ensure that the artists could move freely between their dressing rooms and the stage regardless of the conditions, and also to ensure that the natural ground was well protected.

The removal of the pathways on the Monday morning after the festival had closed showed just how effective the product had been, with adjacent areas of grass clearly showing the extent of the waterlogging.

Heavy rain plagued the rock music extravaganza for most of the weekend, with large areas of the campsites flooded.

Speaking after the festival closed, EFS Business Development Manager Jeremy Simpson said:

"We're delighted with the way our product has performed over the weekend. There has been extensive media coverage relating to the bad weather at Download, but thankfully we were able to ensure that the artists had a clean experience and were able to transition from the backstage areas to the performance stages without any hassle."

In addition to the artist dressing rooms, EFS Europe installed a further 900m2 of the Temp-A-Path product to create safe access for disabled guests. The access was to the wheelchair friendly viewing platforms in the main arena and also to dedicated campsite facilities for the less able-bodied festival goers. A further 600m2 was deployed in the 'RIP' campsite to improve access to the showers, toilets, and shopping facilities, with Temp-A-Path also used in the festival's media area. In total, the event used over 2,500m2 of the lightweight plastic product.
