The new Holywell Park Stadium on the Loughborough University Campus will be one of the best university stadiums in the UK. Funded by Loughborough University with a grant from the Football Foundation, the £2.8 million project has seen the creation of a brand new stadium with floodlighting, perimeter fencing and seating. The new floodlit stadium provides accommodation for nearly 4000 spectators, fourteen team changing rooms, officials changing, meeting room, social area with bar and kitchen for 250 guests and covered tiered seating for 300 spectators. We were asked by the contractors to provide and install Temp-A-Path with ramp edges. The objective for this permanent installation was to provide safe permanent walkways for easy access to the site, whilst also providing protection for the ground underneath. We were delighted to recommend and sell our new Temp-A-Path product knowing that it easily met all of the key requirements for this brand new facility. The new stadium was officially opened with a celebratory fixture against a Tottenham Hotspur under 20 XI. Former England striker and Tottenham Hotspur Assistant Coach Clive Allen commented: “We are delighted to be invited to play in the exhibition match against Loughborough to help celebrate the launch of the new stadium. It really is a fantastic facility and we are very much looking forward to returning.” A few days later the world famous Barbarians rugby union team took to the field, led by Scotland manager Andy Robinson. In front of an almost full house the University Students, recently promoted to National League One, lost 40-7 in an entertaining and free flowing game.

Event Flooring Solutions (EFS) recently held a month long series of open days at Beacon View Farm in Quorn. These events attracted new clients from all over the UK and the display area featured a range of pathway, walkway and flooring products all designed with specific temporary flooring needs in mind. Seeing the product on site allowed organisers from MTV, BBC, Summer Sundae, Shambala and a wider audience to really put it to the test and confirm their orders. Jeremy Simpson, Business Development Manager of EFS commented, “All of our visitors were delighted at the chance to leave their busy offices and view our products in a wonderful local setting as they would actually be used. The ambiance and location definitely gave us a real edge over competitors.” He added, “Clearly without the help of Walter Turner in providing the land and Phil and his team at The Manor who helped with the hospitality, these events would not have been possible." By making use of 1,500m² of Hex Road product, it was a simple and quick task to cover and protect the area. Using Hex Road also allowed for swift removal of the temporary surface due to its lightweight nature. Both of these exciting games attracted near full houses at the home of English Rugby. Jeremy Simpson, Business Development Manager of EFS commented, “Hex Road allows our clients to increase their revenues by maximising their use of their grounds without causing any damage. Unlike similar aluminium products, Hex Road doesn’t require heavy plant machinery to install it or overnight security to guard against metal thieves.”

The Hex Road product provided the ideal quick solution to link the established tarmac walkways with the temporary marquee based exhibition halls. Whilst providing excellent protection for the ground beneath, it also ensured a firm footing in the inclement January weather for the crowds over the 2 days. Temp-A-Path was supplied to over 20 companies to enable visitors to walk around the outdoor shows stands. Working with Blue Chip clients such as Claas and John Deere meant that the product was subject to high footfall during the event. Temp-A-Road was used by the show organisers to provide hard standing within one of larger temporary marquees. Once laid, the 2,000m² area then had stands constructed on to it, this quick and versatile solution both protected the showground whilst also allowing visitors a safe and comfortable passage through the assorted stands. As official suppliers of carpet for the stands we provided and installed a variety of colours and styles for use on both indoor and outdoor stands.
